Service Description

This interactive six-hour online course equips healthcare professionals with the essential skills and frameworks to excel as clinical educators. Delivered synchronously via a virtual platform, the programme blends evidence-based teaching theory with practical application through live discussions, breakout room activities, and microteaching exercises. Participants will explore adult learning principles, clinical teaching frameworks, effective feedback models, supervision strategies, and methods for addressing challenging learner situations. The course culminates in a peer-led microteaching workshop, where participants practise delivering a focused teaching session and receive structured feedback. Designed for upcoming speciality applicants, resident doctors, specialty trainees, and allied health educators, this course provides a strong foundation in medical education and ensures participants leave with practical tools they can immediately apply to their teaching practice. Course Tutor: Dr Jhiamluka Solano Dr. Solano is a Cardiology SpR in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, currently undertaking a DPhil in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford and a GMC-accredited trainer with extensive experience in medical education. He holds an MSc in Medical Education, is a council member of the Academy of Medical Educators (UK), and actively contributes to national committees, including the Royal College of Physicians’ Resident Doctor Committee. As the founder of Medheart Consulting, Dr Solano focuses on empowering clinicians to become confident and effective educators. His work centres on faculty development, educational frameworks, and evidence-based teaching practice, ensuring that clinical teaching is both impactful and learner-centred.
